GETTING STARTED WITH

Welcome to HopliteVPN!   This guide is designed to help quickly install and use HopliteVPN.

Getting HopliteVPN
HopliteVPN client packages are prepared individually for each user and delivered via USB thumbdrive or one-time download.   This file should be stored in a safe location and never shared with other users.
Installing HopliteVPN
Window and Mac installer packages are provided.  Run the installer package for your computer and follow on-screen prompts to install.   If needed, detailed install steps are provided below.

Connecting and Disconnecting HopliteVPN
After installing, the HopliteVPN icon should be visible in the Windows System Tray or Mac Toolbar.  If HopliteVPN is not running, it can be launched from the Windows Start menu or Mac Applications folder. 
 
To Connect: Right-click on the icon, select Connect, and login with provided username/password.   The HopliteVPN icon will turn from Grey to Green when connected.

To Disconnect: Right-click on the icon and select Disconnect.  The HopliteVPN icon will turn from Green to Grey when disconnected.

The Details Window
The HopliteVPN Details window provides connection status and traffic graphs.   To access the Details window, right-click on the HopliteVPN icon and select Details.

The Preferences Window
The HopliteVPN Preferences window provides a VPN connections list and a toolbar to navigate settings.   To access the Preferences window, right-click on the HopliteVPN icon and select Preferences.

Changing Passwords
To change a password, connect to HopliteVPN and browse to https://192.168.0.1.   Login and set a new password.
Detailed Steps: Installing HOPLITE VPN on Windows
  • Using an administrative account, run HopliteVPN-setup.exe by double-clicking.   Depending upon how HopliteVPN was delivered, this file will be on the provided USB thumbdrive or in a local Downloads folder.
 
  • A User Access Control window may ask, “Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?”   Click Yes.
 
  • When greeted with the “Welcome to the HopliteVPN Setup Wizard” window, click Next.
 
  • After reading the License Agreement, select “I accept the agreement” and click Next.
 
  • Accept the default install folder of HopliteVPN, then click Next. 
 
  • Tick the “Create a desktop shortcut” checkbox if desired.  Note that HopliteVPN can always be started from the Start Menu.
 
  • Click Install to begin the installation
 
  • If asked to install a HopliteVPN device driver, click Install to allow.
 
  • Once installation has completed, click Finish. 
Detailed Steps: Installing HopliteVPN on Mac
  • Using an administrative account, run HopliteVPN-install.pkg by double-clicking.   Depending upon how HopliteVPN was delivered, this file will be on the provided USB thumbdrive or in a local Downloads folder.
 
  • Click Continue to start the installer, then click Install.
 
  • If prompted, enter an administrator username and password.
 
  • Click Close when the installation is complete.
